How should an artist's website be designed to maximize sales?

Your website should mimic an art gallery experience as closely as possible: minimalist design, monochromatic (usually white) walls, art displayed prominently with good lighting, clear pricing listed, and simple checkout. Avoid fonts, colors, walls of text, and other visual noise. The paradigm that works offline—the art gallery model—should be replicated online. Don’t treat your website like a canvas to compose; treat it like a gallery where art is meant to be viewed and purchased.
