I have 1,700 Instagram followers but I'm not comfortable sharing much about myself. What should I change?

First, 1,700 followers is a great start. But if someone visits your Instagram right now and can only see sculptures and exhibitions—if they can’t learn anything about you as a person when you’re not sculpting—that’s a problem. Think of your art as the headline band at a concert. Before the headline band, there are opening acts. Those opening acts are your story: where you’re from, where your creative eye came from, what you do when you’re not creating. You don’t have to share everything, and there are artful, tasteful ways to do it, but you must give people something to connect with beyond just the art. When people connect with who you are as a human being, the art becomes way more real and they become way more interested in purchasing it.
