How should I evaluate whether a marketing expense is worth it?

Ask critical questions about how each activity drives the right kind of attention for your art. For example: How is this show I’m about to spend an entire weekend and $1,500 on giving me more of the right kind of attention? Is that $500 for a magazine insert more effective than spending that same $500 on Instagram ads? Once you realize how critical attention is, you’ll naturally start asking these questions about where you allocate your marketing budget and time. The focus should always be on which activities generate the most valuable attention for your specific art and audience.
