Why are artists so resistant to doing marketing work?
Artists resist marketing more than any other industry. Our brains are wired for efficiency, constantly trying to convince us to conserve energy and do the least amount of work possible. This is human nature - our animalistic brain resists anything that looks like work. Many artists also think marketing means taking on a whole new full-time job that will completely change their world, which makes the brain immediately reject it. But if you understand this psychological resistance, you can work past it. The artists who do are the rare few who succeed, while 99.9% of others stay stuck because they fall for their brain’s efficiency tricks.
