Why do artists make short-term decisions that prevent their business from growing?
Artists often lack perspective on the time they have left to build their business. Without understanding you have potentially decades ahead, you make short-term decisions, hop from one solution to another, and never work on the fundamentals that actually move the needle. You might try a marketplace, then a gallery, then some online thing, spending $20 here and there, constantly switching approaches. Then you wake up at 80 wondering where it all went. The key is to commit to the basics with a long-term view rather than constantly looking for quick wins.
