How long does it realistically take to build a sustainable direct art business?

It takes three to five years to really start gaining traction and firing on all cylinders, and by years seven, eight, or nine you’ll have built a truly sustainable business. This isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme—no one builds real wealth or stability in three months or even two years (outside of inheritance or illegal activity). But three to five years goes by quickly, and if you’re making daily progress toward owning your distribution and customer base, you’re building something that will last and provide consistent income for decades.
