What exactly is a 'buying question' and how do I recognize one?
A buying question is any statement or comment that combines your work as the topic with a complimentary adjective. Examples include: ‘Your work is amazing,’ ‘What a beautiful piece,’ ‘The colors are incredible,’ ‘This reminds me of my childhood,’ or ‘What was your inspiration for this?’ These can be actual questions or simply complimentary statements. Whether they come as comments on social media, remarks at a show, or responses to emails, they all represent buying interest. Recognize that when someone takes the time to compliment your work specifically, they’re expressing interest that goes beyond politeness—they’re potential buyers.
