What about artists like Banksy who are completely anonymous—doesn't that prove you don't need to share personal details?
Banksy is an extreme outlier—like comparing yourself to Kobe Bryant in basketball. His art has an incredible story: he’s been anonymous the whole time, creates pieces with deep social commentary, does them illegally on public buildings at random hours, and hasn’t been caught. That IS the story. His work involves social commentary and law-breaking under cover of night—that’s compelling without him revealing his identity. Unless you’re doing something similarly extraordinary and story-worthy with your art, you can’t model yourself after the Banksys of the world. You need a tangible, achievable approach that will start moving the needle immediately for a normal working artist.
