How do I get over my resistance to discounting my artwork?
Remember that galleries routinely take 50-60% commission on your work, so a strategic discount isn’t as drastic as it seems. Also, galleries themselves often discount for repeat collectors—and typically you split the difference on that discount. By controlling your own discounting, you maintain control rather than leaving it to a gallery. Make it easier psychologically by keeping the discount period very short (like 24 hours) rather than extending it over weeks. Frame it as a special, rare opportunity rather than devaluing your work.
