Why do most artists have virtually no competition in the art market?
Most artists aren’t willing to do the marketing work required to succeed. While there are many artists creating work, the vast majority won’t take consistent action on marketing fundamentals like posting regularly on social media, building an email list, and actively promoting their work. Perhaps eight out of ten artists won’t take action even when they know what to do. This unwillingness to do the hard work of marketing means that the artists who do consistently market themselves face very little real competition.
