How far in advance should I plan and start promoting for major holidays?

Major retailers plan holiday campaigns a year in advance and start executing weeks ahead of the actual date. For example, Valentine’s Day displays go up on January 2nd. As an artist, you should plan your holiday marketing well in advance—ideally mapping out the entire year. Start promoting at least a week or two before the holiday, not the day of. Last-minute promotions are better than nothing, but you’ve already missed most of the opportunity. Advance planning lets you build momentum, send multiple touchpoints, and prime your audience. Use a marketing calendar to stay organized and never miss a major selling window.
