What's the difference between a macro pivot and a micro pivot?

A macro pivot is a large, sweeping change—like completely changing your subject matter from landscape photography to portrait work, or from Midwest animal paintings to sports team art. A micro pivot is a smaller adjustment that doesn’t require reinventing your entire body of work. Examples of micro pivots include: offering commissions when you only offered originals before, adding prints when you only sold originals, trying a new medium like metal prints when you’ve only offered paper, or testing a time-sensitive subject like a news event. Both types build the same muscle and make an impact—you don’t always need massive changes.
