How did one landscape painter successfully pivot their art business?
An artist who originally created figures of women in their signature style wasn’t seeing strong sales despite doing the show circuit. The work was selling some here and there, but not making enough money, and they were very close to giving up on being an artist and going back to construction work. They did one last pivot and created what they called a ‘Sacred heART Series’—fine watercolor drawings of famous rock stars they loved. This ended up being a home run that built an incredible business. Later, after years of success with rock stars, they pivoted again to a ‘Life Force’ series featuring famous athletes, plus paintings of cultural figures. These new works became some of their highest and best-selling pieces, exploding sales by twenty to forty percent over a year. The entire success as an artist was due to pivoting.
