How should I market my art on social media? All I see other artists doing is posting image after image of their work.
Stop running what I call the ‘Art Gatling Gun’—endlessly posting ‘here’s my art, buy my art, more art, art art art.’ That doesn’t work in 2026. Think about how you’d behave at a real gallery opening: you’d have a normal, interesting conversation where people learn about you as a person, what inspires you, where your ideas come from. Your art is the commercial, but nobody wants to watch commercials all day. Share who you are as a human being—are you a dog or cat person? What do you do when you’re not creating? What inspires you? People make purchasing decisions based on whether they know, like, and trust you. If visitors can’t learn anything about you as a person, how will they ever connect with you enough to buy?
