Does this new way of selling make it easier to succeed as an artist?
No, it doesn’t make it easier—it was never easy, whether using the old way or the new way. What it does mean is that when you do the hard work, the rewards are significantly higher than before. There’s no 50-50 split with galleries, you don’t have to leave your house for shows, you keep all customer data, and you have the ability to sell worldwide. But you still need to market regularly, grow your email list, grow your social following, and work at it consistently. Success requires effort either way—the difference is that now, when you put in that effort, you reap far greater benefits and have full control over your business.
