When is the right time to run sales and discounts on my art?

Run sales when the time is right, not constantly. The fourth quarter traditionally sees more art sold than any other time of year, so that’s a key period. Other good times include holidays relevant to your specific niche or subject matter (like National Dog Day if you photograph dogs), after art shows, when someone joins your email list, after contests when participants didn’t win, or when other natural opportunities present themselves. The key is learning the complete trade craft of running sales - not just the advertising leading up to it, but how you ask for the sale, what you do immediately after, and your follow-up after that. Master these playbooks and keep running them throughout the year when appropriate.
