What pricing range should I offer to build a sustainable art business?
You need a range of pricing across three tiers: $0-$100, $100-$1,000, and well above $1,000. This isn’t about how high your prices are—it’s about having options for different buyers at different stages. The most important metric is the number of new customers you acquire per year, and you can acquire customers at any price point. Not everyone is ready to buy expensive wall art when they discover you, but many want to support your creativity with a smaller purchase. Having lower-priced options like small originals, prints, or merchandise lets you build a customer base. These buyers can become collectors over time, returning to purchase larger pieces later.
