Can I use this follow-up technique if I don't sell online?
Yes, there are parts of this technique you can use even if you sell all of your art offline. For example, if you know which pieces a customer looked at or showed interest in during an in-person interaction (like at a gallery show or studio visit), you can reference those pieces in a follow-up email. The principle is the same - following up with personalization based on what they expressed interest in. One artist hand-delivered a purchased painting and brought along three or four other pieces she knew the buyer was interested in, and he ended up buying extras. The core strategy of timely, personalized follow-up with relevant pieces works regardless of where the actual sale happens.
