What's the biggest mistake artists make when launching their art business?
The biggest mistake is spending time on things that don’t directly lead to sales and feedback — perfecting a logo, setting up a business license, figuring out sales tax, building 50-100 images in one niche before testing any of them. All of this is ‘busywork’ that delays validation. You waste months or years creating inventory in a direction that may not sell at all. Instead, create one piece, try to sell it immediately, learn from the response, and iterate. Speed to feedback is everything.
