Are art shows worth the time and effort for selling photography?

Art shows can work well initially, but they require significant investment in equipment (tent, display materials) and time (setup, long days on your feet, fulfillment afterward). Results can be inconsistent—you might sell well at your first show, then barely anything at the next. The key is whether the time investment takes away from your ability to create new work. Some photographers successfully delegate show operations to someone else who handles the selling while they focus on creating and marketing through other channels.
