What types of in-person events should I look for beyond traditional art fairs?
Look for local festivals at churches, breweries, community events, and smaller venues—not just the crowded Main Street fairs with 50-100 competing artists. These alternative venues often have 200-500 people, maybe a few other crafters or jewelers, but rarely any artists or photographers. You can get a booth for $50-$100, have zero competition, and capture 100 emails in one day while selling a couple thousand dollars of art and merchandise. These opportunities are everywhere but almost no artists are taking advantage of them. Breweries constantly have events with live music and vendors. Community festivals, church events, dance recitals—all have booths available. This is blue ocean territory with no competition. You’d be shocked how often there simply isn’t a painter or photographer at these events, just crafters selling necklaces and local honey. The arbitrage opportunity is enormous.
