What does 'moving people down the sales funnel' mean for artists?

When someone first discovers your work, they enter the top of your sales funnel—they’re aware of you but not ready to buy. Moving them down the funnel means nurturing that relationship over time through marketing: social posts, emails, storytelling, offers. Gradually, they become more familiar, more engaged, and more trusting. Eventually, they’re ready to make a purchase. This process takes time and multiple touchpoints. Effective marketing guides people from ‘Who is this artist?’ to ‘I need to own this piece.’ Without consistent marketing, people get stuck at the top and never convert.
