Why do most artists fail when they try running Facebook ads for their art?
Most artists fail with Facebook ads for two main reasons. First, they use the wrong messaging approach — they immediately ask for the sale with discount codes and ‘buy now’ language to people who don’t know them yet. This is like walking up to a stranger at a party and immediately asking them to buy something before even introducing yourself. Second, they’re not properly set up to make the ads pay. They lack the foundational infrastructure needed: no Facebook pixel installed to retarget visitors, no email capture system with automated follow-up sequences, no strategy to build relationships over time. They have one chance to convert a visitor, and when that person leaves, they’re gone forever. Without these systems in place, you’re essentially throwing money away because you can’t nurture the relationship needed to eventually make sales.
