Should I plan my art business by starting with the end goal in mind?

Yes, it’s extremely powerful to start with the end vision of where you want your business to be. Write down exactly what that looks like: What revenue level are you targeting? What are you doing day-to-day? How much time are you spending on the business? What does your lifestyle look like? Are you traveling one month or three months per year? Once you have that clear end vision, bring it back to today and map out everything you’ll need to get there. This exercise reveals what support systems you’ll need—whether that’s automated fulfillment, marketing help, or other resources. When you map backwards from a $50,000, $100,000, or $200,000 per year business, you quickly realize you can’t run it entirely on your own. You’ll need help in various forms. Starting with the end prevents you from being surprised later and helps you make better decisions today about what to invest in and what systems to build.
