Should I focus on finding a niche for my art, or can I explore different styles and mediums?

Only the market can tell you what your niche is—you don’t get to pick it. Start creating work and take it to market to get feedback through eyeballs and sales. Many successful artists don’t have a traditional niche at all; instead, YOU become the niche through your personality, story, and how you see the world. Often what sells is the artist’s perspective across different subject matters. Don’t spend any time stressing about finding a niche. Focus on getting your art in front of people. Sometimes artists struggle with one body of work for years, switch to different subject matter that takes off, and then the original work starts selling too—because people bought into the artist, not just the work.
