What should I do with paintings that aren't selling if I have a gallery or studio space?
Don’t let work sit idle. If you have 200 paintings in your space that aren’t moving, get aggressive about placing them elsewhere. Offer to let potential buyers keep a piece at their home for a week, bring multiple paintings to people’s houses, ask if they want to put work in their vacation home. Place art in coffee shops, car washes, restaurants, anywhere with traffic. The worst thing is having inventory sit unseen. Every piece on someone’s wall or in a public space is advertising for you. Be willing to take lower margins on some pieces just to get them out working for you instead of sitting in storage.
