I feel depressed and discouraged about my art business and don't want to deal with the business side. Is this normal?
This is completely normal—99% of artists feel this way. You’re all really good at creating art and really bad at marketing. You don’t like it, don’t want to do it, and never do it consistently, yet you’re starving for more eyeballs on your work. The key insight is recognizing this is a pattern, not a personal failing. Many artists go through cycles of burnout, depression, and breaks lasting months or even years. But the creative drive never leaves—you’ll be back, because you can never truly leave. The solution is finding sustainable systems that take the burden off you: automation for technical tasks, community for support and accountability, education for learning marketing skills, and breaking the work into small consistent actions rather than overwhelming spurts. Accept that some seasons will be harder than others, but commit to never completely stopping for extended periods.
