What physical samples of my work should I invest in to help sell my art?
Focus on your actual selling media types, not every possible option. If you offer three or four print mediums (like fine art paper, metal, acrylic, canvas), get one sample of each of those. Also get an example of a matted print. For merchandise, get representative samples. You don’t need large sizes—smaller samples work fine as long as they demonstrate the quality, finish, and presentation. Framed samples are generally too expensive and create too many variables; skip those unless framing is a core offering. The point is having something physical to show collectors what they’re actually buying. Trying to sell without samples is like a salesperson showing up without product—it simply doesn’t work. This is an essential investment in your business.
