If a sale goes down and nobody sees it, will anything sell?
No, nothing will sell. It’s like the question: if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound? Similarly, a sale without attention produces no results. Attention is the currency of your art business—it’s eyeballs on your work. This comes in the form of email addresses, website traffic, social media followers, snail mail lists, and text message contacts. Attention comes in two types: rented (social media followers that platforms can take away) and owned (email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses that you control). Without attention, even the best-structured sale will fail.
