Do I need to find a niche to be successful selling art?

The advice to ‘just find a niche’ is often overrated. Many successful artists don’t have a single niche and do very well. The key is to apply the 80/20 rule (Pareto’s law) - if 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts, then you should have a serious conversation about focus. But if you’re doing well across multiple areas without one clear dominant revenue source, there’s no need to force yourself into a box. You can absolutely succeed as a multi-faceted creative with diverse interests and revenue streams.
