What's an advanced marketing strategy to maximize attention right before a major sale?

Create a one-two punch by having an attention-grabbing event immediately before your major sale. For example, run a print giveaway contest that ends the week before Black Friday—this gets people engaged and switched on. Then immediately launch your Black Friday sale to that warmed-up, attentive audience. Or hype up an offline show and launch it right into your holiday sale. Photographers might do special Halloween shoots for kids at a low price, then transition those engaged families into a bigger sale. The idea is that getting attention is hard, so if you can whip up a frenzy of engagement and then immediately offer something for sale, you’re essentially putting chum in the water and having all the sharks swimming around your boat right when you need them. This is quite advanced thinking that most people don’t consider, but it can be extremely effective.
