How important is it to share personal content beyond just my artwork on social media?

Art sales are fifty-fifty: 50% is the meritocracy of the art itself, and 50% is who the artist is—what collectors have in common with you, whether they bond with you, and if you’re someone they want to do business with. Post something each week that has absolutely nothing to do with your art or identity as an artist—something about your hobbies, your life, your interests. People do business with people they like. If you’re not giving a window into who you are aside from being an artist, how can they make that connection? You don’t have to become a reality TV show, but give people a little window now and again into something else that makes you tick. Every time you share a part of your life, you’ll find people online who do that same thing and bond with you.
