What percentage of my sales should come from direct versus indirect channels?
Eighty percent or more of your sales should be direct. You can still sell through galleries or other third parties if they add value—treat them as spokes in your marketing wheel, not the hub of your business. Think of third party sales as gravy, never as something you rely on. Understand that those channels will eventually be taken away from you. Spend 90 to 99 percent of your marketing time and energy building your direct business, and only 1 to 10 percent on third parties. This is how you solve your consistent income problem and build something sustainable.
