Where should I focus my social media efforts to find my audience as an artist?

Fish where the fish are. Your job as an artist marketer is like a fisherman who drives the boat to where the fish are actually located. Social media platforms have people on them nearly 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Your task is to get decent at storytelling on these platforms to capture attention. Focus on the platforms where your specific audience already congregates—this might be niche Facebook groups, Instagram communities, or other channels. For example, if your work appeals to fans of specific music or cultural movements, find and engage deeply in those dedicated groups. Don’t spread yourself too thin across every platform; instead, go all-in where your people actually are, provide value, and build genuine relationships within those communities.
