Should I try to find someone to do the marketing work for me—a marketer or service that can handle it?

No one is going to do the marketing work for you in a way that builds your business sustainably. Many artists ask ‘Who will do it for me? Where can I find someone to do it for me?’—but this outsourcing mindset doesn’t work for building a direct art business. Marketing your own work, connecting with your own collectors, building your own email list, creating your own content—these require your authentic voice and consistent personal involvement. You can get help with specific technical tasks, but the core marketing work must come from you. This is actually good news: it’s the barrier that keeps most of your ‘competition’ from succeeding. The artists who accept this reality and commit to doing the work themselves are the ones who build sustainable, growing businesses.
