How should I approach social media and email marketing as an artist?

Be human and have conversations—that’s it. Don’t turn into some corporate entity the second you hit publish. Use the same voice, stories, warmth, and vulnerability you use in person at an art opening. Stop posting only finished artwork with no human presence. Mix your feed: show yourself in the studio, your hands, your process, your dog, reference photos, half-finished work, morning coffee with a piece on the easel, new supplies you’re excited about. Make your social media and email feel like the conversation that happens at a gallery opening—messy, personal, specific, funny, warm. Reply to comments like you’d reply to a person standing in front of you. Write emails like letters to friends who collect your work. Don’t broadcast—converse. People buy from people, not from logos.
