What are order bumps and one-click upsells, and why do I need them?

These are two opportunities to increase your average order value. An order bump happens before checkout - when someone adds something to their cart, they’re offered an additional item they can add with one click. A one-click upsell happens after checkout on the confirmation page, offering another item to add to their order. This is the online equivalent of impulse items at the checkout line in physical stores. These take seconds to set up and work especially well with merchandise. When you increase your average order value even by a few dollars per transaction and multiply that across thousands of transactions over years, it becomes fundamentally significant to your business growth.
