Should I really post less of my art on social media? That seems backwards.
Yes—spend less time posting your art and more time being entertaining, and more people will actually see your art. It sounds counterintuitive, but the data proves it works. Social media isn’t a gallery where people come to browse art thoughtfully. It’s a TV channel, and people want programming (entertainment) between the commercials (your art posts). Nobody wants to walk through a gallery on their phone at 11 PM on the couch or while waiting at the doctor’s office—they want simple entertainment. Your art posts are important, but entertaining content is what gives your art an audience.
