How should I price my commission work?

Commission pricing should vary based on several factors: the complexity of what the client wants, how much work is involved, whether you need to hire models or other resources, and critically, what the client intends to use the work for. For example, if someone wants to use your artwork for a book cover or commercial purpose, that should be priced differently than personal use. Don’t be afraid to have a wide pricing range - commissions can reasonably range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand depending on these factors. As you gain experience and demand, don’t hesitate to raise your rates. Test higher pricing to find where your market ceiling is, and remember that your time and unique creative ability have significant value.
