How important are one-on-one conversations in selling art, and how should I approach them?

Conversations are everything. Move people from comments and messages to actual voice conversations as quickly as possible. When someone shows interest online, get them on the phone – you can sell much more effectively when they see or hear you versus just reading text exchanges. Be willing to deliver work in person, let people live with pieces before buying, bring multiple options to their home, ask about their other properties. This personal approach dramatically increases sales. Also, constantly talk about your work everywhere you go – at dinner, visiting friends, in public spaces. Ask people about art they own, where they bought it, what they paid. Every conversation is an opportunity.
