What's wrong with posting mostly my artwork on social media?

Most artists run what I call the ‘Art Gatling Gun’ — constantly posting art, more art, pictures of creating art, studio shots, art reveals, art, art, art. This is the equivalent of a TV channel that only shows commercials. Nobody wants to watch that. You would never interact this way in person. If someone walked into a gallery opening and you immediately started pitching your art and prices without any normal conversation, they’d think you were crazy. Your art is the commercial. You need programming too — who you are as a human being, your story, what you do when you’re not creating, where you’re from, your personality. Human beings make purchasing decisions from people they know, like, and trust. If there’s no opportunity for people to get to know you, you’ve lost before you started. Marketing is meant to be a conversation, and the story is just as important as the artwork.
