If I'm in Bucket One and haven't validated my art yet, what should I focus on and what should I ignore?
If you’re in Bucket One, you should ONLY focus on creating your work, getting samples or originals in hand, and attempting to sell them to strangers. That’s it. Nothing else matters. You should completely ignore: building a website, getting business cards, opening a bank account, tax implications, figuring out your niche, developing a brand, researching shipping rates, worrying about juried shows, seeking awards, or chasing likes and comments on social media. If what you’re doing each day doesn’t directly lead to getting your product in front of strangers to attempt a sale, you’re working on the wrong thing. Focus exclusively on validating whether people will pay for what you create.
