What if my customer's response to my follow-up is neutral - not negative but not enthusiastic either?

If you get a neutral response, it’s critical to get specific feedback from them. They might say something like ‘Yeah, it was okay, but I really would have preferred…’ - find out what the blank is. Find out why they’re not completely satisfied. Do your best to address their concern and make the situation better. Think of it like a hotel asking ‘How was your stay?’ If the guest mentions something suboptimal, the hotel might comp their parking or offer another gesture to make it right. After you’ve addressed their concern, read the situation and take their temperature. If they seem satisfied with your response, you might still be able to ask for a sale. If they still seem a bit dissatisfied, it’s probably better to just move on and not push for another purchase.
