I'm great at selling my art in person but terrible at marketing online. How do I bridge this gap?
Everything successful in the online realm is just the digital version of what works offline—you already know how to do this! Think about how art sells in the real world: in galleries and museums. Every gallery worldwide looks the same—minimalist, monochromatic walls (usually white), art hung up, nothing else. Your website should mimic this experience. Second, think about a gallery opening: there’s wine, cheese, music, conversation. You’d talk to visitors about where you’re from, your life, your kids, your interests—and then discuss the art. That’s what social media should be. Instead, artists post art, art, art, process, more art—you’d never do that in person! Third, if you owned a gallery on Main Street, you wouldn’t close the doors for 3 months or 6 days a week. That’s what your marketing consistency should look like. Apply what you already do well in person to the online world and you’ll succeed.
