Should I specialize in one creative area or diversify my skills?

In today’s creative economy, diversification is often valuable. While earlier in the industry there were strict boundaries - you had to choose acting or directing, for example - now everyone is doing everything. There are no more gatekeepers preventing you from pursuing multiple creative interests. You can be both in front of and behind the camera, both a photographer and a filmmaker, both a commercial artist and a fine artist. Starting to diversify earlier in your career, rather than being rigidly focused on a single role, opens up more opportunities and revenue streams over time.
