What should I do if someone doesn't respond to my initial outreach message?
If you don’t get a response, it means they didn’t see your message—not that they rejected you or think your art is bad. This is where you need to get creative. Use omnichannel messaging: contact them through multiple channels and multiple times. During your research, track down all the venues this person or account is active on—their website, contact form, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, other social accounts. After you send the first message and don’t hear back, reach out on every single channel you can find. You can also message them multiple times in the same channel. Until you get a hard ‘no’ or ‘not interested,’ assume they’re just busy and haven’t seen your message. Get creative—be a detective and find alternative ways to reach them.
