Why does my reel get a lot of activity in the first hour and then drop off to nothing?

That’s completely normal. With billions of users posting content every second, the first couple of hours after you post are critical. The algorithm watches to see if your audience engages—likes, comments, shares. If engagement is strong, it pushes your content further. If watch time drops or people skip it, the algorithm moves on to the next piece of content. Many posts die in the first few hours. This is why high-frequency posting is so important: you’re competing with massive amounts of content, so you need to stay top-of-mind by posting often. When a post underperforms, tweak something small next time—different music, lighting, text, or call-to-action—and see if performance improves.
