What is a flash sale and how does it work for selling art?
A flash sale is a spur-of-the-moment sale with short duration, usually focused on a particular piece, media type, or image category. It combines incentive (a discount) with scarcity (the sale ends very quickly). The key is to go live on social media with minimal preparation, show the item, explain the normal price versus the discounted flash sale price, tell a story about the piece, and announce that the sale ends when the broadcast ends. Accept payment any way that’s convenient—PayPal, Venmo, direct message for arrangements, even check or credit card over the phone. The goal is to remove all friction and just ship it.
