Why is consistency in marketing so important for artists?
The biggest problem in the art business is treating marketing like a New Year’s resolution—starting strong in January, going to the gym (posting regularly), feeling great, then by March you haven’t done it once, and the whole year is gone with nothing to show for it. This pattern repeats year after year. Artists often close their metaphorical gallery doors for months at a time when they get burnt out or life happens, which kills momentum. You’ll be creating art for the rest of your life—potentially 30, 40, 50, or more years. Making decisions through a short-term lens (where will I be in 3-6 months?) misses the point. Consistency over the long term, even when you don’t feel like it, is what builds an email list, a following, and actual business momentum. It’s hard to do alone, which is why community and accountability matter.
