Why do I keep creating art but never seem to make progress selling it?

This is what I call the ‘Hotel California problem’—you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. The desire to create and the need for validation through selling never leaves artists. What typically happens is artists create a body of work because they’re inspired, but then don’t do enough marketing to get it in front of enough people to see if it will sell. When nothing happens, they take a break, get bored with that work, and move on to create the next body of work. It’s a vicious cycle of rotating through projects without ever getting enough eyeballs on any single collection. The solution is breaking this cycle by committing to consistent marketing efforts alongside your creation process.
